The new Ford F-350 truck: Even more capability
Truck drivers who want to take a major step up in capability can look to the Ford F-350 Super Duty truck. It's available with dually rear wheels and it's the largest and most capable passenger vehicle Ford makes. The F-350 gives you the same driving manners as the Ford F-150 and it rides better than you might expect. Here's a closer look at the new Ford F-350 truck that's available through us at Hixson Ford of Alexandria in Alexandria VA.
What's new for 2023?
The new Ford F-350 gives you bed-access steps on the rear bumper and in the bedsides. You can choose from a menu that includes a standard 6.8-liter V8, a 7.3-liter V8 or a 6.8-liter turbocharged diesel V8. Four-wheel drive now comes standard starting at the XLT trim and you can get an available F-350 XL Off-Road package with four-wheel drive single rear-wheel options.
A standard 8.0-inch center display comes with the XL model and a 12.0-inch screen is available on higher trims. Safety features now include Trailer Navigation, Onboard Scales with Smart Hitch, a trailer camera system and a blind-spot information system for fifth-wheel and gooseneck towing. You can also choose a new Ford Pro system with an Upfit Integration System that makes it easier to use accessories and equipment like snow plows.
Gasoline and diesel engine options
The Ford F-350 comes exclusively with V8 engines that include 6.8-liter and 7.3-liter variations. With the 6.8-liter choice you'll get 400 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque and the 7.3-liter option gives you 430 horsepower and 485 pound-feet of torque.
The turbodiesel 6.7-liter Power Stroke engine is also available in two different forms of output. You can get either 475 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque or with the high output option, you'll get a turbocharger that delivers 500 horsepower and an amazing 1,200 pound-feet of torque.
Towing and payload capacity
The Ford F-350 is built to move mountains. For the best towing capability, get the rear-wheel drive regular cab dually with the high-output diesel engine and you'll be able to pull a massive 40,000 pounds. With the 6.8-liter V8 engine and rear-wheel drive, your maximum payload capacity will be 8,000 pounds.
Interior and exterior technology
The new Ford F-350 comes with a standard 8.0-inch infotainment touch screen and you can get a 12.0-inch display at higher trim levels. Smartphone connectivity for both Apple and Android devices is also included. Available options include a 12.0-inch digital gauge display, a head-up display, wireless device charging and a premium Bang & Olufsen stereo system with up to 18 speakers. A Ford Pro Power Onboard generator lets you plug your power equipment directly into the truck.
Trailering and fleet management technology
Businesses who want to keep track of usage for the Ford F-350 Super Duty truck can get software for telematics and fleet management under the Ford Pro banner. The F-350 has a variety of cameras installed all over the F-350's's interior. One is a tailgate down camera that's the first in the industry and there's also a hitching camera and a 360-degree view system that operates even when you have a trailer attached. A semi-autonomous hitching system can easily align the truck with a trailer. The built-in navigation system can gauge the trailer's dimensions and plan a route that's free of clearance issues.
